Corporal works of mercy are one of the ways the Divine Mercy Center aspires to be a reflection of God’s love to the community and help the community encounter Christ through its efforts. Our Kitchen and Outreach Ministry, the key way we engage in social outreach, uses both in-reach and outreach to address the hunger needs of the surrounding community as well as offering an opportunity to further engage those who come to our center for prayer.
Started in 2006, our Kitchen and Outreach Ministry has grown to serve approximately 6,000 hot lunches of homemade soup and bread plus food boxes each year to Center visitors and community residents. Working with local school social workers, we identify families who are food insecure and provide boxes containing a week’s worth of meals. We also provide complete holiday meals (Thanksgiving and Christmas) to families each year. This 2018 we will provide over 400 holiday outreach boxes.
