The Women of Jesus’ Merciful Passion
There is a new religious community of Women in Clinton Township, Michigan. In her book, A Call to Trust, Catherine M. Lanni, Foundress and Spiritual Moderator of The Servants of Jesus of The Divine Mercy describes how on September 30, 1994 the Lord requested that she establish and form a religious order of women. The order will eventually be called the Sisters of Jesus’ Merciful Passion, and the women will wear a white habit with a cord of St. Joseph.
In the fall of 2012, Catherine received permission from Archbishop Vigneron to begin work on this new community of women and as time went on a clearer understanding of the process evolved. A planning committee worked fervently on the Statutes and Bylaws for this community of women, and on September 15, 2016, Archbishop Vigneron approved the Statutes which allows the women’s community to fall completely within the Private Association of Christian Faithful that is The Servants of Jesus of The Divine Mercy.
This new community of women will operate under the Appendix to the Statutes of The Servants of Jesus of The Divine Mercy. This Appendix describes the history, purpose, eligibility and commitment required for membership in the Community that will now be known as the Women of Jesus’ Merciful Passion.
On April 16, 2019, Archbishop Vigneron gave his approval and blessing for the women interested in discerning this community to begin living in the “Dwelling Place” located on the property of the Divine Mercy Center. May 13, 2019 marked the inception of the Women of Jesus’ Merciful Passion and the call from the heart of Jesus became a reality.
The intent for this Community is to eventually become a religious institute of consecrated women whose charism is to provide spiritual direction and holy hospitality. The women will be accompanying Gods people on their spiritual journey in life and assist them in growing closer to Jesus Christ.
The Women of Jesus’ Merciful Passion follow the Rule of the Ten Evangelical Virtues of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Along with attending daily Mass, the women also pray the Liturgy of the Hours, the Holy Rosary, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, the Chaplet of the Ten Evangelical Virtues of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Our Lady of Sorrows Rosary.
These women are answering their call to lay down their lives for Jesus, The Divine Mercy through the intercession of the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary for the conversion of aching mankind. We pray for holy, healthy, and humble vocations to this new vibrant community. If you are a woman ages 18-40 who is discerning a call to religious life, please do not hesitate to contact us. May Jesus, The Divine Mercy bless and guide you always.
Prayer for Religious Vocations
Most Pure spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph we implore your assistance to help guide humble, healthy, and holy women to this new community of women which is a call from the heart of Jesus. Help them to know the divine will of God and embrace the vocation which He has destined for them. Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We ask this through Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
